ALPATRÓ

Between la Marina Alta and El Comtat counties we find one of the most interesting and beautiful tourist areas in the province of Alicante: El Valle de Gallinera (the gallinera Valley).

This valley , crossed by Gallinera river and the road between Pego and Cocentaina, is composed of 8 villages, from East to West: Benirrama, Benialí, Benitaia, Benissivà, La Carroja, Alpatró, Llombai y Benissili, all of them with  the original moorish  toponymy.

ALPATRÓ

Alpatró is the most populated village in the valley and it is located in the very center of the “cherry valley” in the mountains of Alicante province. You shouldn’t miss the slender bell tower of the parish church of the Assumption of our Lady, stablished as parish in 1535 with jurisdiction over several village in the valley. Do not miss its four altars!

Also remarkable are the old fountain in the square, the ancient olive-oil mill (almazara) completely restored or the “Cherry Cooperative of Alicante Mountain” (“Cooperativa de Cerezas de la Muntanya d’Alacant”).

Walking through the streets you will discover the peace and calm, enjoy the gastronomy, the kindness and hospitality of the villagers.

The village fiestas are held in August 15th and April as a thnksgiving to St. Marc for the cherry season.
